Best Salon Software with AI Features in 2027: Which AI Beauty Suite Leads?

Two things to know before you read this.

First, I run ProBeauty AI, which is one of the platforms below. Read it with that in mind. I have tried to make the comparison useful even if you never choose us, and I say plainly where we fall short.

Second, everything said here about other platforms comes from what each company publishes about its own product, checked in October 2026. No pricing for anyone but us, because prices change and I cannot verify yours. If a detail matters to your decision, confirm it with the vendor. Sources are listed at the end.

In August we published best salon software with AI features in 2026. A lot has moved since. The biggest change is not a new feature. It is that nearly every platform now sells something it calls an AI receptionist, and those products turn out to be very different from each other.

What is an AI beauty suite?

An AI beauty suite is software built for beauty professionals that puts AI inside the whole business rather than bolting a chatbot onto a calendar. In practice that means one system covering:

  • Booking: a booking page, availability, deposits and reminders
  • Client records: visit history, notes, formulas and photos
  • Intake and consent: health history and signed forms before the appointment
  • Client communication: answering questions and handling booking requests, often around the clock
  • Marketing and content: campaigns, captions and images
  • AI across all of it: so the assistant that answers a client knows your services, and the one drafting a campaign knows who has not been back

The distinction worth making is between three things that get described the same way:

  1. Salon software with an AI add-on. A mature booking platform that has added an AI feature, often a receptionist, sometimes at extra cost.
  2. A general AI chatbot. ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Very capable, but it knows nothing about your business unless you connect it.
  3. An AI beauty suite. Built around AI from the start, with the business data and the AI in one place.

None of these is automatically better. A great booking platform with one good AI feature can beat a suite that does many things adequately. But knowing which kind you are looking at makes every other comparison easier.

The big change: everyone has an AI receptionist now, and they are not the same

A year ago an AI receptionist was a differentiator. Now Boulevard, Zenoti, Mangomint, Vagaro, Fresha, Phorest and GlossGenius all describe one. The useful question is no longer "does it have one" but three narrower questions.

Does it answer the phone, or only messages? Some answer calls with a voice. Others only reply to texts, chat or WhatsApp. If your clients call, a text-only assistant does not solve your problem.

Does it book, or send a link? Some book, reschedule and cancel directly in your calendar. Others check availability and send the client a link to finish the booking themselves. Both are useful. They are not equivalent.

Is it included, or an add-on? Several are sold separately, and some meter minutes or messages. Ask for the real monthly cost at your volume.

Here is how each platform describes its own receptionist:

PlatformAI receptionistChannels the vendor describesBooking
BoulevardBeauCalls"Helps clients book"
ZenotiAI Receptionist, part of its AI WorkforceCallsBooks and reschedules
MangomintMiraCalls and textsTurns calls and texts into bookings
FreshaAI Concierge (paid add-on)Phone and messagesBooks, reschedules and cancels
GlossGeniusReceptionCalls and textsNot stated
VagaroVera ReceptionistChat and textSends a link to book, reschedule or cancel
PhorestFront Desk AISMS and WhatsAppHandles scheduling requests
ProBeauty AIGiaIn the app, ChatGPT and Claude; does not answer phone callsBooks, moves and cancels directly

If phone answering is a hard requirement, that table narrows your list quickly, and it rules us out. I would rather you know that now. Our own reasoning on when an AI receptionist makes sense, and when you still need a person, is in AI receptionist vs front desk staff.

Platform by platform

Each entry covers what the company says its AI does, who it tends to suit, and what to check before you commit.

Boulevard

AI it describes: an AI receptionist called Beau that answers calls, helps clients book and captures leads around the clock, plus what it calls AI features built into the platform.

Tends to suit: salons and spas that care most about a polished, premium client experience.

Check: which AI features are included on the plan you would buy, and how Beau hands a call to a person.

Zenoti

AI it describes: the broadest list of any platform here. Its "AI Workforce" includes an AI Receptionist that answers calls and books appointments, plus agents for lead follow-up, retention, staff scheduling, inventory, chargeback disputes, treatment notes from visit conversations, and business analysis. Its assistant, Zeenie, drafts marketing and produces reports, and Zenoti says it waits for confirmation before acting. Zenoti says its agents are trained on patterns from more than 30,000 beauty and wellness businesses.

Tends to suit: multi-location spas, med spas, larger salon groups, and businesses that also run fitness or wellness services.

Check: which agents come with your plan, and whether that much capability is worth the setup for a smaller business.

Mangomint

AI it describes: Mira, an AI receptionist that handles calls and texts around the clock and turns them into bookings. Its automated flows for texts and emails are rule-based automation rather than AI, which is worth knowing when comparing.

Tends to suit: independent salons and spas that want clean, modern operations.

Check: how Mira works with your calendar rules, and whether it is included or priced separately.

Vagaro

AI it describes: Vera Receptionist, released in August 2026, an AI chatbot that answers messages from your Vagaro listing page and your text marketing number, including after hours. It answers questions about hours, services and products, can look up a client's upcoming appointments and memberships, and passes the conversation to your team when a client asks for a person. It does not book directly. It checks availability and sends a link to book, reschedule or cancel. Vagaro's announcement does not mention phone calls.

Tends to suit: businesses that want a very wide feature set, including salon, spa and fitness, in one platform.

Check: whether messages-only covers how your clients actually reach you.

Fresha

AI it describes: AI Concierge, a paid add-on that handles calls and messages, and books, reschedules and cancels directly in the Fresha calendar. It draws on your Fresha data and a knowledge base you can add answers to, and you can set its voice, name and greeting.

Tends to suit: solo pros and salons that value Fresha's consumer marketplace for finding new clients.

Check: the add-on cost and any usage limits at your volume, and whether the marketplace model fits your brand. More on that trade-off in best booking apps for solo beauty pros.

Phorest

AI it describes: Front Desk AI, a 24/7 assistant that handles scheduling requests and common questions over SMS and WhatsApp, and Cheatsheet AI, which summarizes a client's history and preferences before an appointment and flags upsell opportunities. Phorest has said Front Desk AI resolves up to 89 percent of client conversations without a person, which is the company's own figure.

Tends to suit: salon teams, particularly in markets where WhatsApp is how clients communicate.

Check: which AI tools are available in your country and on your plan.

GlossGenius

AI it describes: Reception, which covers calls and texts, plus a Marketing Agent that writes campaigns and a Growth Agent focused on revenue. In July 2026 the company announced it is renaming itself Genius AI, though its product site still uses the GlossGenius name.

Tends to suit: solo stylists, booth renters and suite professionals who want something simple and mobile-first.

Check: how Reception handles booking, which the product page does not spell out, and whether it fits once you add staff.

ProBeauty AI

What we do: booking with a branded page, deposits and SMS reminders; client records with visit history and notes; AI intake and consent forms built for the state you practice in, with signature capture; Gia, an AI assistant that knows your services and books, moves and cancels appointments, with your client getting a text each time; an AI image studio for content and design concepts; and team tools on Pro. We are bilingual in English and Spanish, and available on iPhone, iPad and the web.

The thing nobody else on this list does: ProBeauty AI works inside ChatGPT and Claude. Both list us in their directories, and both work on their free plans. If ChatGPT or Claude is already open on your laptop all day, you can check your schedule, look up a client or book an appointment from there. Setup guides: ChatGPT and Claude.

Tends to suit: solo pros and small teams who want booking, records, forms and AI in one place, and anyone who already lives in ChatGPT or Claude.

Where we fall short:

  • We do not answer phone calls. If clients mostly call, look at the phone-answering platforms above.
  • We do not do gift cards yet.
  • We are not a marketplace. We do not send you new clients from a consumer directory.
  • Android is not out yet. It is coming, but today it is iPhone, iPad and web.

Pricing: Essential is $19.99 a month, or $20 once for your first six months on the current offer, with nothing further until month seven. Pro, which adds unlimited AI and team collaboration, is $29.99 a month.

How to choose

Skip the feature lists. These five questions sort the platforms faster.

1. How do your clients actually reach you?

Count a normal week. Calls, texts, DMs, WhatsApp, the booking page. Choose an AI receptionist that works on the channel where most of your requests arrive. A brilliant chat assistant does nothing for a phone-first clientele.

2. Do you want it to book, or just to respond?

Direct booking saves the most time but needs your services, durations and rules set up properly. Link-based booking is lower risk and still fills after-hours gaps. Decide which you trust before you compare. If your booking setup needs work first, start with how to set up online booking.

3. Does the AI see your records?

An assistant that knows a client's history, formula and last visit is far more useful than one that only knows your opening hours. Ask exactly what data it can read, and what it can change.

4. What can you switch off?

You should be able to pause it, limit what it can do, and take over any conversation. Ask how it hands off to a person and whether it tells clients it is an AI.

5. What is the real monthly cost?

Base plan, any AI add-on, usage limits on minutes or messages, text message fees, payment processing, and per-seat charges. For a solo pro the subscription is often the smallest of those numbers. Build the total at your real volume for your top two choices before deciding.

What to watch in 2027

Phone versus text will matter more than features. As receptionists become standard, the channel they work on becomes the deciding factor.

AI will move into notes and records. Zenoti already describes generating treatment notes from visit conversations, and Phorest summarizes client history before appointments. Expect more of this, and expect questions about consent and data handling to follow. Our guide to where to store client notes and consent forms covers what to ask.

Your software will work inside the AI you already use. Connecting a business platform to ChatGPT or Claude went from experimental to a directory listing this year. It will not be rare for long.

Add-on pricing will spread. More AI will be sold as metered extras. Read the limits.

The bottom line

There is no single best salon software with AI in 2027. There is a best fit for how your clients reach you, how much you want the AI to do on its own, and what you are willing to pay in total.

If clients call you, start with the platforms whose receptionists answer the phone. If you are a large or multi-location operation, start with the broadest AI stack. If you are a solo pro or a small team who wants booking, records, forms and AI in one place, especially if you already work in ChatGPT or Claude, that is what we built ProBeauty AI for.

Then run the same test on your top two: book yourself as a client, send the assistant your three most common questions, and work out the real monthly cost. An afternoon of that beats any comparison table, including this one.
